4. The money transfer is then carried out and registered in Western Union’s money
transfer system.
5. When the transfer has been completed, you will be given a receipt with a 10-digit Money
Transfer Control Number (MTCN). After this, the money can be claimed by the receiver. The receiver
does not have to know the MTCN number*. However, it is advisable to share the number with the
receiver because the number makes it easier to find the transfer in the system. Note that some
countries may require that the receiver present the MTCN number when claiming the money.
6. The receiver may claim the money without identifying* the agent in the receiving country.
The receiver simply fills out the *To Receive Money* form and presents a valid ID to prove that he
or she is the correct receiver.
