Parcels can be sent cash-on-delivery (COD) by bus just like parcels by post. A parcel designated as COD will only be handed over to the consignee (recipient) after payment of the amount of COD indicated by the consignor (sender) in the address card. The COD amount is paid to the consignor’s bank account once the consignee has collected the parcel. The payment time is four banking days as of the date when the parcel was handed over to the consignee. The Pick-up & Delivery service is available for Bus Parcels and Delivery Parcels but not for Near Parcels or Express Parcels.

Supplementary insurance coverage
We recommend supplementary insurance coverage for valuable consignments.
The insurance is force in Finland from the moment when the parcel is received for delivery up until the moment when it is handed over to the consignee. The insurance also covers the cost of the immediate return of the parcel in the event it cannot, for one reason or another, be delivered to the consignee.
The basis for compensation under the supplementary insurance cover is the value of the goods as shown on the invoice plus transport charges or the fair value of the goods plus transport charges. The maximum compensation is EUR 1,700 per consignment. No deductible applies with supplementary insurance coverage. Any payment of compensation is subject to the condition that the amount of loss and damage can be verified. Any externally visible damage must be reported in writing before acknowledging the receipt of the consignment. Hidden damage must be reported in writing within seven (7) days of the date when the consignment was handed over. The beneficiary must file a claim for damages with Matkahuolto in writing within one month of the occurrence.
Supplementary coverage is not available for cash, securities, precious metals, jewellery made of precious metals, pearls, jewels, works of art, or living animals. The supplementary insurance coverage does not cover any loss of or damage to the insured goods caused by delay.
A consignment with supplementary insurance coverage must be duly packaged as required by contents. Read the packaging instructions.
Any damage to a consignment insured with supplementary coverage will be indemnified under Cargo Insurance, Terms and Conditions KU 05, 1 October 2008, Full Cover. More detailed exclusions are specified in Pohjola Cargo Insurance, Terms and Conditions KU 05, under section KU 7 Exclusions.
Supplementary insurance cover is available for Near Parcels, Bus Parcels, Express Parcels and Delivery Parcels. However, only consignments containing one parcel are insurable under this policy.
A parcel is transported as a large item if the length of any one side of the parcel exceeds 1.5 metres or when the maximum length and circumference combined exceed 2.4 metres.
The large item designation is available for Bus Parcels, Express Parcels and Delivery Parcels but not for Near Parcels.
