Christmas and New Year Service and Schedule Changes – Overview
Christmas and New Year is the busiest time of the year for both travel and parcel services.

Matkahuolto offers the widest nationwide selection of bus services and ticket options. We recommend buying Christmas and New Year holiday tickets in advance via the Reitit ja Liput app or on Matkahuolto’s website. Please note that bus timetables include several exceptions during the holiday period from Independence Day on 6 December 2025 until Epiphany on 6 January 2026.
You can access timetable information and purchase tickets on the app and website 24/7. Our customer service number 0200 4000 (Mon–Fri 8–21, Sat 10–18, Sun 10–20; call cost €1.98/min + local network charge) provide service during public holidays as follows:
Independence Day, Sat 6 Dec: 10:00–18:00
Christmas Eve, Wed 24 Dec: 10:00–18:00
Christmas Day, Thu 25 Dec: 10:00–21:00
Boxing Day, Fri 26 Dec: 10:00–21:00
New Year’s Eve, Wed 31 Dec: 8:00–21:00
New Year’s Day, Thu 1 Jan: 10:00–21:00
Epiphany, Tue 6 Jan: 10:00–21:00
Send your parcels on time and check pickup point opening hours
Domestic parcels will arrive before Christmas if sent by 19 December 2025, and home-delivered parcels by 18 December 2025. You can send parcels easily via the Paketit app or Matkahuolto’s website. Parcels can be dropped off and picked up at more than 2,200 pickup points across Finland.
Most Matkahuolto pickup points – such as K-food stores, R-kiosks and parcel lockers – are available during public holidays. However, customer service points at Matkahuolto terminals will be closed. You can check the opening hours of pickup points in the Service Point Search on Matkahuolto’s website.
The Paketit app chat, the parcel services helpline 0600 11300 (Mon–Fri 8–18; call cost €1.98/min per answered call + local network charge), and customer service for contract customers will be closed on public holidays. The exception is the Paketit app chat, which will be available on Independence Day.
