Matkahuolto achieved EcoVadis Gold level with its best result to date
Matkahuolto has maintained Gold level in the international EcoVadis sustainability assessment and improved its result across several assessment areas. The progress was particularly focused on environmental and climate-related topics, where transport and logistics operations have the greatest impacts.
EcoVadis assesses companies’ sustainability work in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The assessment helps identify the strengths and development areas of sustainability work and track progress using an international framework.
Matkahuolto’s result improved especially in environmental responsibility. The assessment highlighted stronger environmental policies, practical measures and external verification of this work. Environmental monitoring and stakeholder recognition of Matkahuolto’s environmental responsibility also improved from the previous year. Concrete examples of our environmental and climate work include our target to halve emissions across our entire operations and transition to fossil-free fuels by 2030, as well as the EcoCompass environmental management system certificate, which the company renewed in June 2026.
In addition to environmental responsibility, the assessment showed positive development in other areas of sustainability. In labour and human rights, practices related to personnel, equality and responsible ways of working were strengthened. In ethical business conduct, the assessment highlighted guiding principles, sustainability-related operating models and their systematic monitoring as strengths.
EcoVadis Gold level shows that Matkahuolto’s sustainability work ranks highly in international comparison, placing among the top 5% of all 150,000 assessed companies. The result reflects long-term and systematic development work, especially in the environmental and climate-related topics where transport and logistics operations have the greatest impacts. Thank you to every Matkahuolto employee for contributing to this achievement.
